Flowers
To be successful in taking photos of flowers you should consider
the following:
- You will need a macro lens, and a tripod.
- Choose your subject - pristine flowers are best. If they
are to small it is hard to fill the frame.
- What is your focal point of interest - shape, texture, colour,
insect etc
- What angle to shoot it from - choose which perspective you
want. (Having a flower inside in a vase, and move the flower
around instead of the camera)
- Lighting - subdued lighting is best for showing detail, but
sometimes oblique lighting can help.
- Choose vertical or horizontal.
- Try not to put the main point of interest in the centre of the
image.
- Do you want it to be pin sharp all over ? Use a small aperture
- F16-F22
- Do you want just a small portion of the flower to be in focus,
ie the edge of a rose petal. Go to the largest aperture -
F1.4-F4.
- Make sure your composition is good, and that there are no
distractions on the perimeters
